Brittany Murphy married British writer and director of her latest project Simon Monjack. The marriage was held at their home in Los Angeles several weeks ago.They went to Louisville after their wedding ceremony.

“This was our first trip as a married couple. We came to the Kentucky Derby and had a wonderful time,” they said in a statement to PEOPLE on Tuesday.
